Featured ProducerFebruary - Vina Ravanal
Founded in 1936 by Teodoro Ravanal, Vina Ravanal is one of the oldest wine estates in the Colchagua Valley. The family tradition continues with his son Mario, a leading oenologist and his grandchildren Pia and Mario Sebastian, who have chosen to follow the same profession with the philosophy of making high quality, espressive wine. The vineyards are located in Placilla and San Jose de Manantiales next to the estate, and are all family owned, allowing full control of viticulture and harvesting, which is all done by hand.The exceptional terroir of the Colchaugua Valley produces grapes of outstanding quality. Careful hand selection, well judged use of French and American oak and skilful blending, alongside the Ravanal family philosophy transform the grapes into excellent, complex wines. Ravanal are one of the only producers in Chile to have access to vines over 100 years of age, some of which are used in the production of their wonderful 'Limited Selection' wine, rated as the top Carmenere blend in the world by Carmenere al Mundo.
